Dr. George Paparsenos is holder of diploma (M. Sc) in Mechanical – Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and of Philosophy Degree (Ph. D) in Mechanical Engineering from the Glasgow University, United Kingdom.
Today, he works as freelance consultant, mainly in the energy sector.
He is a highly experienced in managing companies, project teams and programme teams. He was managing director of DESFA S.A. (2010 -2013), the Gas Transmission System Operator of Greece, ASPROFOS S.A. (2002 – 2005), a large Greek engineering company, subsidiary of Hellenic Petroleum S.A., as well as of Planning Bulgaria Ltd (2008 – 2010), a consulting company active in Bulgaria. He has special experience in controlling projects and programmes of projects from the quality, physical progress and time progress point of view, as well as from the point of rational use of resources (human, financial, etc.) by applying specific methods and techniques.
He is highly experienced in the energy sector and more specifically in natural gas markets, in all the cycle of large energy infrastructure projects from the initial concept to the operation and maintenance (in oil, gas, electricity sectors), biofuels, energy conservation techniques and technologies in industry and buildings, renewable energy sources (active and passive solar, wind and geothermal), cogeneration of heat and power, substitution of electricity or conventional fuels with natural gas or lpg, standardization of solar products, energy regional planning, legal and administrative framework, energy auditing, energy information dissemination, evaluation and funding of energy projects, financing tools in the energy sector, transfer of energy know-how and technology to public organizations and companies, including the scientific coordination of training programmes.
Due to his scientific activity and professional experience in the energy sector, he has become member of several scientific committees and organizations as well as of evaluation committees and participated in drafting the Operational Programme for Competitiveness within the 3rd Community Support Framework for Greece for the sectors of energy and natural resources (1999 – 2000). He has published a large number of articles concerning energy matters in workshops and congresses proceedings or scientific journals.
